Perasol resigns as UP Maroons coach

Bo Perasol has resigned as head coach of the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons.

The 49-year-old tactician confirmed this Wednesday night pending the official announcement of the school Thursday.

“Yes it’s true,” Perasol told Manila Bulletin.

“The UP administration and the team management will issue as statement tomorrow morning.”

Perasol was best known for steering the Maroons to their first UAAP Final Four appearance since 1997 in 2018 after defeating the Adamson Falcons, and eventually their first Finals appearance since 1986.

The Maroons, however, lost the championships to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in two games.

They managed another semifinal appearance the following season, but bowed to the University of Santo Tomas Tigers twice in the stepladder phase.

Perasol also previously coached the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
