Parañaque LGU suspends vaccination of Sinovac

The scheduled vaccination for the second dose of Sinovac vaccines on July 14 in Parañaque City was temporarily suspended due to vaccine shortage.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez announced the suspension of vaccination using Sinovac vaccines in a Facebook post and said the city would resume the inoculation as soon as they receive a fresh supply of Sinovac vaccines.

Olivarez assured those who received their first dose of Sinovac not to worry because the second dose can be delayed from three to six months according to experts from the National Vaccination Center.

He said the city government will continue to administer other brands of vaccines.

The mayor said that based on the report of the City Health Office on July 12, from the total of 450,000 target population, about 206,395 residents were given their first shot, while 93,353 were already fully vaccinated.

Olivarez said the city government was able to conduct 8,582 vaccinations -- 351 for the first dose and 8,231 for second dose also on Monday.
