PAGASA: Rain showers, thunderstorms over Southern Luzon, Bicol, Visayas due to LPA
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect parts of the country in the next 24 hours due to the prevalence of a low pressure area (LPA) east of Eastern Visayas on Wednesday morning, July 14.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the location of the LPA at 20 kilometers east-northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar around 3 a.m.
Senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the LPA may bring rains over Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Visayas.
PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may become moderate to at times heavy.
Perez said the LPA will likely dissipate within 12 to 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have warm and humid weather conditions with a chance of isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours.
