A new low pressure area (LPA) has formed off the coast of Eastern Visayas on Tuesday afternoon, July 13, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weather bulletin.

PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 130 kilometers east-northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar at around 3 p.m.

Weather specialist Joey Figuracion said the LPA may not intensify into a tropical cyclone, as it will more likely dissipate within 24 hours.

However, the weather disturbance may bring cloudy conditions, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms in the next few hours over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Visayas.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may become moderate to at times heavy.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to have warm and humid weather but may still experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours.
