Actress Lovi Po has a new film titled "The Other Wife" and it's not an "affair" movie.

"It's a psychological thriller. When I saw the script, I thought it was another 'affair' movie and I needed to step back, kasi I've done a lot of those. Parang I keep doing the same thing. I was a bit hesitant. But when I read the script, lahat ng naisip ko hindi nangyari sa pelikula. It's an acting piece. That's the reason bakit ko ito tinanggap," said Lovi, during a Zoom conference with the entertainment press over the weekend.

Lovi revealed that she gave her all in this upcoming movie, adding that doing this flick is "the next step for me."

"It's not an affair movie. Ang hirap i-explain kung bakit kasi ayoko pong i-spoil. I can't wait for you guys to see it because I practically gave my all here. I didn't hold back. Medyo na-stress nga ako eh. I am excited for people to watch it," she added. (I don't want to go into details about the movie because I don't want to spoil it. This movie gave me stress while doing it).

When asked about the most challenging part of doing the movie, Lovi said: "The challenge for me is to give it justice. The role for me is hindi biro. I was on my toes and talagang I want to be in sync with my director. It's a different character and I want to give it justice. There's one scene na tuloy-tuloy siyang ginawa, and we really prepared for that scene. I just did what I thought I should do. Pag-napanood po ninyo ito, you will understand how difficult for me to do all those things."

Lovi is one of the busiest actresses around, even shooting, recording songs and doing photo shoots here and abroad during the pandemic.

"I just work hard. Pero sa sobrang busy ko, may mga relationships na rin ako na hindi na nourish, which is kinda sad. I get to communicate na rin less with my friends. I am not a good texter, but people who are close to you would understand it. My best friend and I don't get to talk to each other lately. But when we call back, parang walang nangyari. It's important to have understanding people around," she said.

Looking back, Lovi has succeeded as a dramatic actress on several films that tackle infidelity, bigamy, and the other woman. But Lovi said she has many things to offer and wanted to do action and musical films soon. "That's one of the things that I want to do - musical. In my younger years, sa school, sumasali talaga ako sa mga school play. Actually, aside from acting, that's one thing I want to explore. I also want to do an action film as a woman."

On the possibility of taking her talent - both acting and singing - to Broadway, Lovi reacted: "Oh my God! I would love to do that! Pinaka-recent na napanood ko is 'Waitress'. I’m a huge fan of Sarah Bareilles. Seeng their adrenaline on stage, I am so scared thinking about it."

Lovi has been in show business for 15 years, but admits she still struggles with stage fright.

"Oh yes! Hindi naman talaga siya mawawala. As simple as talking to people, I get nervous sometimes, even when I am acting," she said. "Mababaw pa naman ako, like halimbawa nakita ko ang mga friends ko nanonood while I'm on stage, I really have to fight it."

Lovi also said that it would be exciting to work behind the camera. "I also wanted to work behind the camera. I want to explore music and acting but also writing. I've been writing, but I am too shy. Furthermore, I want to do new things. And I am not complaining because people have been supporting me in my movies."
