Infrawatch: Until Trillanes proves otherwise, gov't deals of Go's family are aboveboard
An infrastructure-oriented think tank on Tuesday, July 13 said that unless former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV can present solid proof on his allegations against the construction firm owend by the family of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, Trillanes cannot debunk the aboveboard record of the questioned firm in dealing with government.

“As early as the first expose of Senator Trillanes in 2018, we had already noted that CLTG Builders won DPWH contracts worth P448.8-M in 2014, which is larger than the contracts won by the firm in 2016 and 2017, comprising only one and a half years of the Duterte administration,” said former Kabataan Rep. Terry Ridon, convenor of Infrawatch.
Ridon also noted that as of 2018, the value of the contracts won by CLTG Builders during the Duterte administration are equivalent to less than forty-percent of all its projects from 2010.
“In fact, taken in context with the P448.8-M won by the firm in 2015 and the P200.7M won in 2014, it is difficult to make an objective assessment that the status of Senator Christopher Bong Go as Special Assistant to the President then and his status as Senator now had any influence on the projects won by his father’s company,” the former youth activist said.
A lawyer, Ridon stressed the importance of Trillanes presenting evidence to back his claim that Go’s father, owner of CLTG, benefitted when the senator was elected to the Senate and when he was still an executive of the local government of Davao City during President Rodrigo Duterte’s tenure as mayor.
“Without this smoking gun, as in a money trail of kickbacks and payoffs, all of his allegations certainly looks like a classic demolition job,” Ridon stressed.
However, the former lawmaker pointed out that Trillanes stance in fighting corruption in government is laudable.
““Make no mistake: The fight against corruption is the common fight of all,” he said.
Ridon stated: “But we diminish this fight if we fail to provide sufficient particularity to show the actual corrupt activities of personalities supposedly involved in corrupt activities.”
