Duterte's wish for opposition win not good for him — Trillanes
President Duterte’s wish for the opposition to win so they can have a taste of what’s it’s like to run the country might just come true, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said, noting that it will not be good for the Chief Executive.

During an interview over Teleradyo on Tuesday, July 13, Duterte’s staunchest critic reacted to the President’s statement during his pre-taped public address on Monday night.
“Baka magkatotoo ‘yang panalangin niya. Hindi niya ikabubuti ‘yan (His wish might come true. That will not be good for him),” Trillanes said.
The former senator is open about his plans to run either as president or vice president, stressing that one of his first moves is to pursue a case against Duterte.
Duterte hit his critics in his address to the nation by saying that they can never be satisfied and can never be appeased by anything because they are hungry for power.
“Mabuti kung matikman nila para makita rin natin kung paano sila mag-perform (It’s good if they will experience so we can see how they will perform). How I wish that they will win,” he added.
The President said that he will rather want his political opponents to win than see his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, go through the same ordeal.

In particular, he pointed to his staunchest critics, Trillanes and detained Senator Leila de Lima to be targeting Duterte-Carpio.
“Grabe siya magbaliktad ng mundo. Sabi ko nga, nire-recall ko nga, meron ba akong mura na ginawa all this time? Pero ganun siya (It’s really incredible how he turns the table on you. I said, I am trying to recall, did I curse at him all this time? But that’s how he is), that’s how he gaslights people,” he said.
Trillanes, who is now a professor, hopes that people are aware by now how the President speaks when he discusses national policies.
“Isang observation lang, parang bangag eh, parang ‘high’ kung magsalita. Parang wala sa hulog eh (Just one observation, it’s like he’s not in the right frame of mind, he talks as if he’s ‘high.’ He’s not in the right mind). It’s unfortunate,” he noted.
As long as the next administration is not Duterte’s ally, Trillanes said it will be good for the country because “talagang binaba niya nang todo ‘yung Pilipinas sa iba’t ibang aspeto (he really pulled down the Philippines in different aspects).”
