The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) warned the public anew against persons representing as DICT officials to solicit donations from private companies.
“We have received several reports that certain individuals representing themselves as officials and personnel of DICT have been soliciting donations from private companies,” the DICT said in an advisory Monday, July 12.
It noted that the same scheme was also reportedly used by other individuals who claimed to be officials from other government agencies.
“The individuals responsible continue to mislead private companies using different mobile numbers not associated with any DICT official or personnel, as per official records,” the DICT said.
The department has previously issued several advisories warning the public of such scheme.
“Let it be known that these persons are neither affiliated with nor authorized to represent the DICT,” the agency said.
“We urge the general public to be vigilant and report similar suspicious transactions and unscrupulous activities to [email protected],” it added.
