7 X 7: BTS' 'Butter' continues reign on Billboard Hot 100 for 7th straight week

BTS’ 'Butter' is No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for the seventh consecutive week since June (Billboard Charts / Big Hit Music) 

 Grammy-nominated BTS’ magnificent seven extended their reign on the Billboard Hot 100 as “Butter” took the No. 1 spot on the chart for the seventh straight week. 

Billboard announced that “Butter,” which came out on May 21, is the No. 1 song again on the Hot 100 on the July 17-dated chart. 

The Hot 100 chart is based on US streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales. 

“We can’t believe this is really happening to us. Thank you SO MUCH x 7 #BTSARMY,” according to a tweet by BTS’ official Twitter account. 

For the July 17-dated chart, according to Billboard, “Butter,” accumulated 10.8 million US streams (as of July 8), down 1 percent from last week’s 11 million based on numbers from MRC Data. 

The US streams for “Butter” since its debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 have totaled 128.9 million. Here is the breakdown: 

July 17 chart (seventh week) - 10.8 million US streams

July 10 chart (sixth week) - 11 million 

July 3 chart (fifth week) - 12.4 million 

June 26 (fourth week) - 12.5 million 

June 19 (third week) - 15.4 million 

June 12 (second week) - 34.5 million 

June 5 (first week) - 32.3 million   

“Butter” sold 108,800 as of July 8, a decrease of 29 percent from last week’s 153,500. The US sales for “Butter” have totaled 1,023,600 to date. 

Here are the US sales for “Butter” in seven weeks: 

July 17 chart (seventh week) -108,800 

July 10 chart (sixth week) - 153,600 

July 3 chart (fifth week) - 128,400 

June 26 (fourth week) - 111,400

June 19 (third week) - 138,400

June 12 (second week) - 140,200

June 5 (first week) - 242,800 

Billboard also reported that “Butter” garnered 29.1 million radio airplay audience impressions as of July 8, an increase of 6 percent from 28.3 million last week. 

In seven weeks, “Butter” has a total of 175.9 million radio airplay audience impressions. Here is the breakdown:

July 10 chart (sixth week) - 28.3 million 

July 3 chart (fifth week) - 27.6 million 

June 26 (fourth week) - 25.8 million

“Butter” is also No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart for the seventh consecutive week and rose to 21st place from 23rd on Radio Songs and to 26th from 31st on Streaming Songs. 

"’Butter’ concurrently enters the Pop Airplay top 10 (11-10), becoming BTS' second top 10 on the mainstream top 40 radio-based chart, after ‘Dynamite’ hit No. 5 last December. BTS is the first all-South Korean act with multiple Pop Airplay top 10s. One other artist from South Korea has reached the Pop Airplay top 10: soloist Psy, whose ‘Gangnam Style’ hit No. 10 in October 2012. BTS is set to debut on next week's, July 24-dated Hot 100 with its newest single, ‘Permission to Dance,’ released Friday (July 9),” according to Billboard.
