Foton F-Jeepneys now roving Tarlac City

Foton and Gerona Communities Transport Service Cooperative(GCTSC) are bringing mobility in Tarlac City to the next level with a newly delivered fleet of modernized Foton F-Jeepney F-29 units.

“Kami sa Gerona Communities, ang talagang goal namin is to provide safe and comfortable commuting experience sa publiko, kaya iyang unit ng Foton ang pinili naming kasi totoong safe siya at very comfortable ang mananakay namin,” said GCTSC Board of Directors Chairman, Eduardo E. Millado.

Turned over by Foton A. Bonifacio to the GCTSC Board of Directors Chairman Eduardo E. Millado and colleagues, the eight units of the modernized king of the road, the Foton F-Jeepney F-29, are ready to reign on Tarlac’s roads, bristling with comfort and convenience features for public passengers to enjoy. As a bonus, they also contribute to a cleaner and more eco-friendly environment through their compliance with stringent Euro-IV emissions standards.

“Kung magta-tricycle from barangay to town, it will cost them P150, iyon ang fare, one way. Dito sa modern jeepney, noong sinukat namin, magbabayad sila ng less, I think around P17 lang or P20, iyon yung naitutulong naming sa mamamayan, sa riding public namin,” said Chairman Millado. “Isang effect nito magkakaroon sila ng chance, ang mga kababayan natin sa barangay na mag-aapply ng trabaho sa bayan,” he added.

The low operating cost and easy maintenance of the Foton F-Jeepney F-29 is one of the reasons the cooperative can charge low fares. Equipped with government-mandated components and accessories, the flagship Foton F-Jeepney F-29 complies with Philippine National Standard (PNS) 2126:2017 and is fitted with CCTV cameras, an Automatic Fare Collection System, GPS Tracker, Wi-Fi connectivity, and durable and easy-to-grip handrails. The units also provide soothing riding comfort for all passengers with its generously cushioned seats and its powerful and highly effective air-conditioning system.

Designed and crafted to meet all the transportation requirements of the greater public, the F-Jeepney F-29 elevates not just the traditional Filipino jeepney, but also other modern jeepneys, with its 29-passenger capacity and its strong and long-lasting 3.8-liter US-designed ISF Cummins CRDi turbo diesel engine that produces a maximum power output of 154-hp at 2,600 rpm and maximum torque of 500-Nm at 1,200-1,900 rpm — more torque than many of the popular big SUVs on the market and enough to give the F-Jeepney F-29 a 4,200-kg payload capacity. That’s 4.6 tons of payload.

Driving range is very high as well, thanks to the F-29’s large 120-liter fuel tank and six-speed manual transmission that ensures an ideal gear for any speed—even in extended highway cruising.

The Foton F-Jeepney is also available in compact and midsize variants and seating capacities, namely: the Foton F-Jeepney F-11 with 11-passenger capacity for municipalities with smaller roads and transport requirements, and the Foton F-Jeepney F-24 with 24-passenger capacity and a Cummins turbodiesel engine for towns and cities of moderate size and mobility needs.
