The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has now identified 28 military personnel who died in the C-130 crago plane crash in Patikul, Sulu over a week ago after the identities of eight more cadavers were confirmed by the authorities.

Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, AFP Chief of Staff, said Monday, July 12, that the latest fatalities to be identified were Privates First Class Carlos Dapanas Jr., Keth Kane Alegarme, Marchi Bonzales, and Philip Dante Camilosa; Corporal Jay-ar Obenita; Privates Archie Barba and Carlos Jhun Paragua Jr.; and Technical Sergeant Nelson Hadjiri.
All of them were Philippine Army personnel who were supposed to be deployed for counter-terrorism operations in Sulu.
Sobejana said the military has already informed all of the families about the status of the recently identified soldiers.
"Air and land transportation are currently being arranged by the AFP to bring the remains of the soldiers to their loved ones," he said.
With this development, there remains 21 cadavers that have yet to be confirmed by the authorities and were still in various morgues and hospitals in Zamboanga city and Sulu for safekeeping.
"The AFP shall continue its utmost efforts in identifying the remaining cadavers. We will continue to coordinate with the PNP SOCO in order to ensure that they are promptly returned to their loved ones," Sobejana said.
Meanwhile, the military chief said investigators were already on the process of reconstructing the crash C-130 plane as part of their investigation.
The blackbox and cockpit voice recorder were already sent to a United States Air Force facility for the analysis of the data.
Philippine Air Force (PAF) spokesperson, Lt. Col. Maynard Mariano said the analysis of the data from the blackbox and cockpit voice recorder might take a month.
