BI to deport alien vloggers selling goods in PH

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it will deport foreign vloggers who have been selling goods and doing other activities that violate the condition of their stay in the Philippines.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente issued the warning after noting that many alien tourists have been posting commercial videos while in the country.

Despite his remarks, the BI chief admitted that vlogging itself is not prohibited as many them bring entertainment and relief to viewers amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

He said alien influencers who feature scenic destinations in the country are welcome since they promote and boost the tourism industry.

However, he noted that foreign vloggers are committing a deportable offence if they engaged themselves in profitable operations.

The BI had recently charged alien influencers for retailing notebooks, bags, and toiletries without the necessary permit or visa.

In India, a New Zealand YouTuber was blacklisted for doing business there on a tourist visa.
