Jessica Soho recalls a time when GMA-7 offered her mass for the dead

Award-winning broadcast journalist recalled a time when GMA-7 offered her and her television crew a Requiem Mass (mass for the dead) when the network thought that they perished during a trip to the Spratly Islands, a disputed archipelago in the South China Sea.
Jessica shared her story to Bea Alonzo recently.
According to her, some years ago when they went to Spratly, but for some reason, they weren't able to find the Philippines island.
"Nakita namin yung island ng ibang bansa, pero di namin nakita island ng Philippines," she said.
So, they turned around and went back to Palawan.
But they got lost and almost ran out of fuel.
"Di namin alam where we were at some point. So nu'ng nakakita ng island yung piloto, parang miracle! Kasi yung island na yun, it could have been any island, pero island siya na may landing strip. What are the chances! Out of the blue," she said.
"In the meantime, in Manila, nagpapa-misa na yung newsroom namin," Jessica related.
According to her, everyone thought she and her crew were all dead.
In fact, her father, who was in La Union, was immediately informed about it.
"They were preparing our obituary," she noted.
"Pero ito, buhay pa rin."
