DOH logs 5,916 new COVID-19 cases

The country recorded on Sunday 5,916 more coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

This pushed the country’s total case count to 1,473,025, of which, 49,701 cases are still being treated.

“Ten duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, six are recoveries,” the DOH said.

Of the active cases, 89.3 percent were experiencing mild symptoms, five percent were asymptomatic, 1.5 percent were in critical condition, 2.4 percent have severe symptoms, and 1.70 percent were in moderate condition.

The death toll stood at 25,921 or 1.76 percent of the nationwide tally, after 105 more people were confirmed to have died.

“Fifty-three cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH said.

Meanwhile, 6,127 more recoveries were listed, raising the total tally to 1,397,403 or 94.9 percent of the overall caseload.
