COVID-19 infections in Metro Manila, Davao, Bacolod on 'flat' trend -- OCTA

Independent research group OCTA on Sunday, July 11, noted a "flat trend" in the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections in the country, particularly in some of the areas with the highest recorded cases over the past week.

Citing the COVID Act Now metrics, OCTA said that local government units with reproduction numbers between 0.9 and 1.1 mean that there is "no noticeable upward or downward trend."

In its monitoring report, OCTA cited that the reproduction number in NCR has increased to 0.91 after remaining below 0.90 since April 21.

This shows that the number of infections in the region has not gone down nor gone up significantly as compared to the previous week.

Aside from NCR, COVID-19 infections also saw flat trends in Davao City, Bacolod City, Cagayan de Oro City, General Santos City, Baguio City, and Calamba City.

However, OCTA still flagged Davao City, Iloilo City, General Santos City, Baguio City, Tagum City, and Santa Rosa City as COVID-19 "high risk" areas.

Meanwhile, NCR, Bacolod City, Cebu City, Cagayan de Oro City, and Calamba City were considered "moderate risk" areas.

OCTA said the Philippines, as a whole, is still considered at moderate risk for COVID-19.

From July 4 to 10, the country averaged 5,243 daily new COVID-19 cases, which is just 5 percent lower than the previous week's average.
