'All vaccines work': PH Red Cross urges public anew to get vaccinated vs COVID-19

The Philippine Red Cross urged the public anew to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and get what is available in order to receive the protection that the jabs provide.

The humanitarian organization has renewed its call after receiving reports of unvaccinated people getting severe to moderate symptoms due to the disease, noting that most of the confirmed cases were waiting for a specific vaccine brand.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sen. Richard Gordon encouraged the public to get the vaccine that is currently available as soon as possible to prevent them from getting serious complications due to the coronavirus.

“The best protection against COVID-19 is to get vaccinated. All vaccines work,” Gordon said in a statement on Sunday, July 11.

The PRC continues to operate several isolation facilities and emergency field hospitals across the country dedicated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Compared to the previous months, the organization noted that admission in the isolation facilities has been decreasing.

PRC currently has nine vaccination centers and has also deployed its mobile vaccination busses to inoculate people even in far-flung areas.

Meanwhile, Gordon reminded the public not to let our guard down as the the threat of the brought about by the pandemic remains.

“Even vaccinated, you are still a possible carrier of COVID-19 and might affect the unvaccinated,” the PRC said.

“Everyone should still wear a face mask, wash their hands, and maintain social distancing to slow the spread of the virus,” it added.
