PH still cyclone-free in next 3 days -- PAGASA

There is a slim chance that a tropical cyclone will likely enter or form inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the next three days, a weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, July 10

Weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) remains the prevailing weather system that may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Masbate, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, and Southern Leyte on Sunday, July 11.

The ITCZ is a rain-inducing weather system containing circulations or low pressure systems.

PAGASA advised those in Palawan, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas to take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides as rains may become moderate to at times heavy.

Meanwhile, Ordinario said Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and Mindanao will have "fair" weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy conditions but may still experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon or evening.

PAGASA still advised the public to stay vigilant against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Severe thunderstorms are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
