Aura PH exits MPL, roster to represent new esports org

Aura Philippines will not be present in the upcoming MPL Philippines Season 8 as the roster is set to represent a new esports organization.

Former Aura PH country manager Mitch Liwanag confirmed the development to Manila Bulletin on Saturday, July 10, just minutes after the team changed its Facebook page picture to black and white with the caption saying," Thank you, Aura Fam."

"Yes, hindi na naka-name 'yung team as Aura PH. I know malaki na siya dito sa Pilipinas but we have plans and gusto namin hindi na kami Indonesian franchise like laging impression ng mga tao sa amin," said Liwanag.

The amiable coaching staff member of the SEA Games 2019 gold winning Sibol ML politely declined to disclose any further details about the next org they will represent. She added that they will reveal the exciting news soon.

In the past five days, Aura posted cryptic photos on Facebook which appear to be clues about the roster's new organization.

Last Friday night, Aura also made a lengthy Facebook statement expressing its gratitude to the players and staff as well as the fans although it did not directly bid farewell to the team.

As it stands, the lineup still features Chan "Rafflesia" Fajura, Jaypee "Jaypee" Dela Cruz, Allen "Greed" Baloy, Ashley "Killuash" Cruz, Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales and Mark "LORD HADESS" Lazaro under head coach Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado and strategic coach Steven "DaleDalus" Vitug.

Aura, an established Indonesian esports org, acquired the back-to-back MPL champion team of Sunsparks and started to compete in Season 6.

However, Aura failed to live up to lofty expectations as it ended up at the 5th-8th places following a loss to archrival Onic PH in the first round of the playoffs.

Aura released Kiel VJ "Kielvj" Hernandez and Renz "Renzio" Cadua, who were part of the two-time MPL winning roster, then tapped Bennyqt from Execration and Lord Hadess from Cignal Ultra as replacements for Season 7.

Jaypee and the crew emerged atop the group but their redemption campaign met a screeching halt at the hands of. ironically, the Kielvj and Renzio-powered Execration via a dominant 3-0 sweep in the lower bracket finals.
