Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southeastern Mindanao have conducted disaster risk reduction assessment on Monday, June 28, to strengthen preparedness for the upcoming typhoon season.
In coordination with the Davao del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), the PCG said the early assessment is to mitigate the adverse impacts of typhoons to the lives of the local residents.

PCG Captain Wendell Soliva, district southeastern Mindanao deputy commander, said the interagency coordination is essential to lessen “loss of lives and properties due to negative effects of natural calamities.”
"Rest assured that the PCG, being the lead agency in ensuring safety of lives and properties at sea, is doing proactive measures to minimize damages that may be brought about by the upcoming typhoon season, such as flash floods and maritime accidents,” Soliva added.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) officially declared the onset of the rainy season in the country on Friday, June 4.
