The government has declared June 19 of every year as "Filipino Social Workers' Day" in recognition of their role in providing social services to Filipinos.

In Proclamation No. 1176, President Duterte directed the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to lead, coordinate and supervise the nationwide observance of the special day for social workers in the country.
"The State recognizes the indispensable role of social workers and their invaluable contribution to nation-building, especially in the implementation of the social protection initiatives of the government," the proclamation read.
"There is a need to raise awareness of the unwavering commitment, dedication and altruism of Filipino social workers, and their significant role in the reduction of various socioeconomic vulnerabilities of individuals, families and communities in the country," it added.
The same proclamation directed other government agencies, including government corporations and state universities and colleges, to participate in the nationwide observance in honor of the social workers. Local government units, non-government organizations, and civil society groups are also encouraged to support the initiative.
The proclamation was signed by the President on June 25.
