DOH says PH classification now at 'low risk' for COVID-19

The risk classification nationally is already at low risk.

Department of Health (DOH) Epidemiology Bureau Director Alethea De Guzman revealed this in an online press briefing Thursday, July 1.

She said this citing the decrease in the two week growth rate (TWGR) in the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases and in the average daily attack rate (ADAR) seen nationally.

Data from the DOH showed a negative nine (-9) percent TWGR and a 5.42 ADAR.

De Guzman also said that in the National Capital Region (NCR), only three areas have high risk ADAR namely; Pateros, Makati and San Juan.

Data from the DOH also showed that only Pateros has a single digit negative growth while the other 16 cities have a negative growth rate.

In the Plus areas, De Guzman said, Laguna exhibited increase in TWGR and ADAR while remaining areas showed improvements.

Meanwhile, the DOH official said that while cases are declining, this is still a "crucial time" for Metro Manila.

"This is a crucial time for the NCR. Slight rises must be managed. We don't want that slight rise to become fast increase in cases," she said.

"While cases are decreasing in NCR... it's a very slow decline. One super spreading event and we may already go back to an increasing trend," De Guzman added.

As of July 1, the DOH recorded 5,795 new COVID-19 cases. This brought the total number of cases in the country to 1,418,337.
