CEU School of Pharmacy marks Centennial Anniversary

CEU School of Pharmacy 100th year anniversary

Centro Escolar University School of Pharmacy (CEU SOP) celebrated its 100th year anniversary, carrying a heart of pride and thanksgiving for what it has become over the years with a Virtual Opening Ceremonies livestreamed on CEU Facebook and Youtube on June 5, 2021.

From being the first established College of the University into becoming today’s top provider of licensed pharmacist, the CEU School of Pharmacy (SOP) holds a rich history with people who takes a huge part in its success and stability.

One of them is Dr. Olivia M. Limuaco, a CEU Pharmacy alumna and former dean of the College of Pharmacy, and now the CEU Makati vice president and dean of Studies, who served as the keynote speaker for this momentous event. For 49 years and counting, she has witnessed every milestone CEU SOP has achieved, as well as other achievements, changes and improvements which some which she herself initiated.

“I salute all men and women who started the College of Pharmacy, and all the deans, program head, academic heads, non-teaching heads, faculty and staff who ensure the continuity of offering the program by providing quality education and services through the years, and the Administrative Council for their unwavering support to the SOP programs, projects and activities,” Dr. Limuaco said in her speech.

Other past and present members of the CEU SOP family including its alumni, both local and abroad also gave their heartfelt messages full of thanksgiving and mostly tripped down the memory lane.

Since this remarkable day deserves a bigger and grander celebration, the CEU School of Pharmacy prepared a year-round activities until May 2022. This includes a Tree Planting Project, Virtual Concert, Pharmacy Congress, Virtual Zumba, Community Outreach Program, and a Culminating Activity.

With the theme, A Legacy of Excellence: Shaping Opportunities in Pharmacy, the Opening program ended with a warm message of the present dean of the CEU School of Pharmacy, Dr. Cecilia Santiago.

“These are challenging times across the society and educational institution, but there remains a lot more reasons to celebrate and be grateful as an expression of God’s unending grace for CEU SOP reaching its centennial year,” she said.
