Viral chat on Mayor Isko's presidential bid 'fake' - Manila PIO

Manila public information chief Julius Leonen declared as “fake” the viral screenshot of a conversation between him and a reporter revealing that Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso will run for president in the 2022 national elections.

In a statement on the Facebook page of the Manila Public Information Office (PIO), Leonen said "Hahahahaha fake. The chat does not exist.”

The chat showed Leonen disclose to the reporter "off the record" that they will announce Domagoso's presidential bid "soon".

"He can't publicly declare as of now. Isko is THE 1," Leonen allegedly said in the conversation.

In recent surveys, Domagoso emerged as a top choice for president and vice president in next year’s elections.

Although he admitted that he will run for the 2022 national elections, Domagoso has not yet announced the specific post he would pursue.

He also made headlines after declaring in an interview that he will not vote for someone who will just inherit a government post.
