
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 5,462 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, June 9.
The new infections raised the country's cumulative total to 1,286,217, of which, 54,000 are still active or those who are still being treated.
“Eighteen duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 14 are recoveries,” the DOH said.
Of the active infections, 92.6 percent are experiencing mild symptoms, three percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are critical, 1.8 percent are in severe condition, 1.22 percent are experiencing moderate symptoms.
Also, the DOH reported 126 more patients who died because of the viral disease. The latest deaths brought the death count to 22,190 which is equivalent to 1.73 percent of the country's total cases.
“Seventy cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH noted.
Meanwhile, the number of recoveries jumped to 1,210,027 after 7,854 more patients survived. The total recoveries represent 94.1 percent of the overall cases.
