QC gov't to assign vaccination sites for A-2, A-3 groups

The local government of Quezon City will assign vaccination sites solely for those belonging to the A-2 and A-3 categories to ensure that they will still get the COVID-19 vaccine or receive their second dose on time.

Mayor Joy Belmonte made the assurance on Tuesday amid fears of lack of vaccine supply as more people are now qualified to get inoculated with the start of rollout for the A4 category or the economic frontliners.

"Aside from visiting our vaccine sites, those under A-2 and A-3 groups can access our vaccination program through online booking as well as through the barangay-assisted booking program of the city government. So don't worry, in fact, I don't forget you," Belmonte added in Filipino in a Laging Handa public briefing.

The local government will also dedicate exclusive vaccination sites for the A2 group, saying that currently, only one-third of the city's 300,000 senior citizens—or those under the A-2 category—have been vaccinated, Belmonte said.

"I'm sure many from the A-3 group are not yet vaccinated," she added, referring to those with comorbidities.

Senior citizens and residents with comorbodities have enough vaccine supply that the local government even has to give incentives to barangay governments that will be able to vaccinate all its residents belonging to the said priority groups, Belmonte said.
