CBCP continues to encourage public to get vaccinated against COVID-19

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) continues to encourage the public to get themselves vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

CBCP-Episcopal Commission on Health Care executive secretary Camillian priest Fr. Dan Vicente Cancino said, the CBCP continues its partnership with the government in encouraging the public to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The Church continues its partnership with the Department of Health and other concerned agencies in spreading information on the benefits of getting vaccinated to address the apprehension and fears of the public,” Cancino said over Radio Veritas.

“We continue our information dissemination and confidence building on the COVID-19 vaccination drive of the government,” the priest added.

Fr. Cancino said the commission is also pushing for the early vaccination of church workers who are as vulnerable, especially now that the government has allowed 50 percent seating capacity in religious activities.

The Church leader called on the public to get themselves vaccinated when the opportunity arises in order to reach the government target of about 70 million vaccinees by year-end to attain herd immunity in the country.
