Scattered rain showers across PH due to 'habagat', ITCZ -- PAGASA

The southwest monsoon or "habagat" and intertropical convergence (ITCZ) will be affecting the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, June 7.

Scattered habagat rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, and Aurora.

Likewise, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, and Visayas will have scattered rain showers due to the ITCZ, or the region where the trade winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

Moreover, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon and ITCZ.

The public is also advised to stay vigilant against severe thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening that may trigger flash floods in low-lying areas or landslides in mountainous communities.
