PDEA hands out P3.5 million cash rewards to tipsters

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) awarded a total of P3,594,314.94 in cash reward on Monday, June 7, to 16 civilian informants who provided information that led to the confiscation of “voluminous’’ amounts of illegal drugs and arrest of the high-value drug personalities under its “Operation Private Eye’’ program.

During the awarding ceremony under the PDEA Operation: Private Eye, PDEA Director-General Wilkins Villanueva cited the informants who identified them through their codenames as “George, Quarang, Dambo, Hagibis, Hapon, Johnny, Panda, Pantalan, Alvin, Kobid-19, Pogi, Chuckie, Summer, Tukil, Mambo and Je.’’

PDEA’s “Operation Private Eye” is a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities.

Among the informants, “Pantalan” received the biggest reward of ₱722,076.24 for giving information to the PDEA Regional Office VII Seaport Interdiction Unit which resulted in the seizure of 12,003.7186 grams of shabu during a buy-bust operation in a warehouse along A.S. Fortuna Street, Barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City on August 15, 2020.

He noted that “Alvin” was awarded ₱500,000.00 for providing information to the PDEA Regional Office III resulting in the dismantling of a small-scale clandestine laboratory, confiscation of 20.9112 grams of shabu and arrest of one drug personality during an implementation of a search warrant in Sitio Agusuhin, Barangay Cawag, Subic, Zambales on August 20, 2020.

“Mambo” was rewarded with ₱394,422.96 after supplying information to the PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (NCR) RSET 1 and 2 that led to the seizure of 8,000 grams of shabu and the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in front of a popular fast food chain in Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City on December 12, 2020.

“Tukil” received ₱381,721.61 based on the information to PDEA RO-NCR RSET 1 and 2 where 5,007.18 grams of shabu were seized that also led to the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation along Col. Martinez Street, South Signal Village, Taguig City on October 23, 2020.

A cash reward of ₱244,237.01 was also given to “Tukil” after supplying information to the same operating units resulting in the confiscation of 2,998.99 grams of shabu and the arrest of three drug personalities following a buy-bust operation in a parking lot of popular shopping mall in Taguig City on October 26, 2020.

“Hapon” received ₱313,800.36 cash award after providing information to PDEA RO-NCR that led to the seizure of 4,070.50 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation along Road 25, Barangay Dampalit, Malabon City on June 21, 2020.

A reward of ₱232,035.41 was given to “George” who provided information to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) MIMAROPA and NCR resulting in the confiscation of 10,140 grams of shabu and the arrest of two drug personalities during an interdiction operation in Barangay Panapaan 4, Bacoor, Cavite on January 27, 2020.

Also, “Summer” received ₱151,433.58 cash award after giving details to the PDEA RO-NCR that led to the seizure of 1,999.09 grams of shabu and the arrest of two drug personalities following a buy-bust operation in Homeland Subdivision, Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City on September 22, 2020 while ₱112,385.34 was awarded to “Hagibis” whose anti-drug information relayed to PDEA RO-NCR led to the confiscation of 1,356.0381 grams of shabu and the arrest of four drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Rockville Subdivision, Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City on June 21, 2020.

Informant “Chuckie” got ₱84,305.71 after giving information to PDEA RO-NCR that led to the confiscation of 1,000.45 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation in Ermin Garcia, Barangay E. Rodriguez, Cubao, Quezon City on September 15, 2020.

“Je” was given ₱84,054.75 for providing information to PDEA RO III resulting in the confiscation of 998 grams of shabu and the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in a parking lot of a supermarket in Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City on December 16, 2020.

PDEA also noted that “Pogi” received ₱4,768.19 after he provided information to PDEA RO-NCR leading to the seizure of 197 pieces of ecstasy tablet and the arrest of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation along Aguirre Avenue, Barangay BF Homes, Parañaque City on August 27, 2020.

A cash reward of ₱5,889.26 was also given to “Pogi” after supplying information to the same operating unit resulting in the confiscation of 129 pieces of ecstasy tablet, 2.0390 grams of marijuana and 1.6262 grams of shabu, and the arrest of two drug personalities during a buy-bust operation in Congressional Town Center, Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City on August 31, 2020.

“P73,304.75 was also awarded to “Pogi” whose anti-drug information relayed to PDEA RO-NCR led to the seizure of 3,979 pieces of ecstasy tablet, 730.68 grams of marijuana and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation along Guerrero Street, NSHA Village, BF Homes, Parañaque City on September 4, 2020,’’ PDEA added.

“Dambo” got ₱69,784.63 after providing information to PDEA RO-NCR that led to the seizure of 1,001.53 grams of shabu and the arrest of three drug personalities beside a gasoline station along Mindanao Avenue, Barangay Pag-Asa, Quezon City on June 21, 2020.

A reward of ₱67,859.93 was given to “Quarang” who provided information to PDEA RO-NCR resulting in the seizure of 999.82 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation in 12th Avenue corner C5 Road, East Rembo, Makati City on June 11, 2020.

“Panda” received ₱64,387.76 after supplying information to PDEA RO VII that led to the seizure of 999.4685 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality following a buy-bust operation along J. Alcantara Street, Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City on August 14, 2020.

A total of P61,353.35 was awarded to “Johnny” whose anti-drug information relayed to PDEA RO-NCR led to the seizure of 944.6479 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation along NHA Avenue, Bagong Nayon II, Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City on June 25, 2020 while “Kobid-19” received ₱26,494.10 after providing information to PDEA RO III which led to the confiscation of 500.10 grams of shabu and the arrest of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation along Gonzalo Puyat Street, Quiapo, Manila on August 25, 2020.

The Operation Private Eye Rewards Committee, composed of members from the academe, non-government organizations, law enforcement, religious and business sectors, approved a resolution granting the monetary rewards to the 16 qualified informants for the 1st Quarter of CY 2021 after careful deliberation.

Rep. Robert Ace Barbers of the second District of Surigao del Norte was the guest of honor and speaker during the ceremony held at the PDEA National headquarters.
