
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 4.5 earthquake in Antique on Monday evening, June 7.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred around 7:49 p.m. and traced its epicenter at 10 kilometers southwest of Bugasong, Antique. It was shallow at a depth of 4 kilometers.
It previously recorded the earthquake as magnitude 4.8 quake and later downgraded it to magnitude 4.5.
Phivolcs said the tremor was "moderately strong" at Intensity IV in Bugasong and Valderrama in Antique.
It was also felt as a "weak" earthquake at Intensity III in Patnongon, Lauan-an, Belison, and San Jose de Buenavista in Antique.
It was a "slight shaking" at Intensity II in Tibiao, San Remigio, and Hamtic in Antique.
Phivolcs' instruments also recorded the quake at Intensity IV in Valderrama, Antique; Intensity III in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique; and Intensity II in Culasi, Antique.
The quake was tectonic in origin, which means the tremor was caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
Phivolcs was not expecting damage to property. Aftershocks were also unlikely to occur.
