Julia Barretto still carries real surname of father Dennis Padilla - sources

Actress Julia Barretto has not changed her surname as she still carries the legal last name of his father Dennis Padilla in all her movie contracts and product endorsements.

Sources said that Julia uses her real name Julia Francesca Baldivia in her contracts.

"Julia Francesca Baldivia ang nakalagay sa exclusive contract ng aktres sa Viva, sa  lahat ng mga kontrata ng kanyang mga product endorsement at sa mga personal matter kaya walang dahilan para magtampo si Dennis sa kanyang anak,"sources said. Baldivia is the real surname of Dennis Padilla. Dennis and Marjorie Barretto are the parents of Julia. They got married in 1995, but they separated in 2006.

In 2014, Dennis said he was hurt when she learned about the plan of Julia to legally drop her real surname and use Barretto instead.

“It’s not the pangalan itself. That’s my blood, kaya masakit ‘yun. Kasi kumbaga, parang ito ba ang gusto n’yo? Barretto na nga ang dala mo sa screen, bakit tatanggalin n’yo pa ang apelyido ko? Masakit sa akin ‘yon,” said Dennis.

Julia also said that she never gave up on her relationship with her father.

 “I didn’t ever give up on our relationship. I was never, ‘He hurt me. He traumatized me. I’m never gonna try with my relationship with him again.’

“Because if I had given up, we wouldn’t be talking right now. But I kept trying. That was painful for me.

“I was fighting so hard for our relationship despite all the words thrown at me by my own dad. I understand your frustration.

“Nobody was talking to you, but you have to look at why aren’t we talking to you. Why were we so scared to talk to you? You have to understand there was so much pain. There was so much fear,” said Julia.

On issue that Julia has not accepted the dinner invitation of her father, sources said: "Halos dalawang buwan na si Julia sa lock-in taping nito para sa 'Di Na Muli,' ang baging drama series ng Viva Television at TV5 na pagbibidahan nila ni Marco Gumabao." (Julia has been on lock-in taping for two months now for the new TV series 'Di Na Muli' with Marco Gumabao).
