
The total number of active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines stood at 59,337 after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 7,228 new infections on Sunday, June 6.
The DOH said that the active cases represent 4.7 percent of the country’s overall caseload which is currently at 1,269,478.
Of the active cases, 93.5 percent were mild cases, 2.4 percent were asymptomatic, 1.3 percent were in critical condition, 1.7 percent were severe cases, while 1.15 percent were moderate cases.
It was also shown in the latest case bulletin that 7,372 new patients have recovered from the disease, raising the recovery count to 1,188,243.
There were also 166 new deaths, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 21,898.
The DOH on Thursday said that there is an upward trend of cases in Mindanao and some parts of Visayas.
However, DOH Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega assured on Sunday that the cases in those areas are still “manageable.”

The DOH is seeing a rise in cases in Western Visayas, Negros Oriental, Dumaguete, Northern Mindanao, Western Mindanao, Southern Mindanao, and Caraga, said Vega.
The Health official reminded the public anew to strictly adhere to the minimum public health standards.
