Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco is pushing for the immediate vaccination of individuals under the A-4 category so they can go home to their families without fear of getting infected with COVID-19 from work.

Tiangco made the recommendation Friday night as he said most of those under the A-4 category or the essential economic workers are the ones who test positive for COVID-19 in the city.
"Mabuti sanang masimulan na ang pagbabakuna sa A4 o mga esensyal na manggagawa para may proteksyon sila habang ginagampanan ang kanilang mga responsibilidad at tungkulin (It's better that we start the vaccination of those in A-4 categories or those essential workers to give them protection while they do their duties for their families)," he said.
Tiangco said that "once they are vaccinated, there will already be a small chance that they bring home the virus to their families."
In recent data from the local government, nearly 40,000 Navotas residents already received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, at least 10,866 residents have already completed their vaccination.
According to the national government, the vaccination of those under the A-4 category will start on June 7.
This came as the country expects to receive millions more of COVID-19 vaccines in July and August, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion said Saturday.
