Scenic access road to West Coastal Road Beach in Mainit, Surigao del Norte under way

A scenic access road leading to the West Coastal Road Pebble Beach in Mainit, Surigao del Norte is now under construction, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said Saturday, June 5, once it is completed, the road will not only ease access and enhance the delivery of goods and services, but also provide travelers with a view of both the serene Lake Mainit and the crystal blue Pacific Ocean.

"Besides providing safer travel to locals and visitors, the road project leading to West Coastal Road Pebble Beach in the municipality of Mainit will also spur socio-economic development in the area," Villar said.

It is expected to yield employment and business opportunities in the municipality, the secretary added.

According to DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos, the road project is implemented under a P139-million fund. It involves the concreting of the road with provision of drainage and slope protection structures.
