PH's Academy of Science and Technology names 10 Outstanding Young Scientist awardees

Ten Filipino young scientists who are mostly members of the academe have made it to the list of National Academy of Science and Technology's (NAST) “Outstanding Young Scientist” awardees.

The NAST PHL, an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology serving as"country’s premier recognition and advisory body on science and technology (S&T), congratulated the year’s recipients of the OYS Award.

Here is the list of NAST’s OYS awardees and their affiliation as posted on its official Facebook page:

-Reynante L. Ordonio (Ph.D. Agricultural Science), Department of Agriculture (DA)-Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice)

-Marvin A. Villanueva (Ph.D. Veterinary Medicine), DA-Philippine Carabao Center (PCC)

-Rey Donne S. Papa (Ph.D. Biological Sciences), University of Santo Tomas (UST)

-Pierangeli G. Vital (Ph.D. Biology), University of the Philippine (UP) Diliman

-Aaron Don M. Africa (Ph.D. Electronics and Communications Engineering), De La Salle University (DLSU)

-Charlle L. Sy (Ph.D. Industrial and Systems Engineering), DLSU

-Jomar F. Rabajante (D.Sc. Mathematical and Systems Engineering), UP Los Baños (UPLB)

-Arnold R. Salvacion (Ph.D. Environmental Science), UPLB

"May you inspire others to pursue careers in science towards a progressive Philippines!,” read the NAST’s Facebook post.

The state-funded academy said the OYS Award is given to young Filipino scientists "who have made significant contributions to science and technology.”

The recipients must not be more than 40 years old in the year of the awarding.
