'Dante' is now outside PAR -- PAGASA

For the second, and last time, tropical depression "Dante" (international name "Choi-wan") left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Saturday morning, June 5.

In the 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) estimated the center of tropical depression Dante at 600 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

It initially left the PAR early Friday morning, June 4, then re-entered on Friday afternoon.

PAGASA said Dante left the PAR, for the last time, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday.

"This tropical depression will continue moving generally northeastward in the next 12 hours heading towards Ryukyu Islands and will turn east-northeastward tomorrow morning (June 6)," PAGASA said.

Dante has maintained its maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

It will likely transition into an extratropical cyclone within the next 12 to 24 hours, PAGASA said.

However, Dante may trigger moderate to rough seas over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised mariners of small seacraft to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea, while it asked inexperienced mariners to avoid navigating in these conditions.

In the next 24 hours, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
