Celebrate the unique beauty of objet d' art and antiquities with 'Finer Pursuits'
By John Legaspi

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." We've heard this line way too many times but it still holds true, especially in the field of art. While many creators use this as a rebuttal against critics, it enables some to look at things differently and appreciate the charm artworks have, no matter how grotesque they may seem to look. It deals, after all, with the subjective nature of what is beautiful.
That is what Salcedo Auctions wants to highlight in its coming midyear marquee sale, the statement "Not everyone will agree with your eye" and that what needs to be celebrated is the love for beauty in contrast. Dubbed as "Finer Pursuits," the auction juxtaposes the "old" with the "new" in a tightly curated selection of 200 lots across various categories. From modern and contemporary Philippine art, museum-grade tribal and ethnographic art, and rare furniture to ecclesiastical objects and other valuable collectibles, the lineup features works that stand out not just for the names of those who created them but also for the hidden details and stories that set them apart from the rest.

“As much as we enjoy bringing people into our private abodes to show them the pieces that make us happy, at the end of the day, we’re the ones living with those pieces, not them,” Salcedo Auctions managing director Victor Silvino says. “Even though we’ve put a name to the different categories, at the end of the day, it’s the collector who chooses how he or she wants to place these pieces in their spaces, which is only natural!”
Auctioneers can also expect to see a selection of rare, limited edition designer furniture pieces by Salcedo Auctions’ Modern & Contemporary Design Partner, CWC Interiors at the sale. The selection features all-time design favorites such as a brand new "The Eames La Chaise" by Charles and Ray Eames, a Noguchi coffee table from the Herman Miller Collection, and a 75h Anniversary Limited Edition Eames LCW chair.

"Finer Pursuits'' will happen on June 26, 2021, Saturday. Expect more exciting lots as its online catalogue goes live next week at salcedoauctions.com.
