Cayetano calls for unity in helping Filipinos recover from pandemic
Former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has called for unity to help Filipinos recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘’We are living in the time of a pandemic. This is not the time to debate and fight but a time to practice bayanihan,’’ Cayetano said during the fourth round of their ‘’Sampung Libong Pagasa’’ initiative on Friday, June 4.
In his message, he stressed the role of the government in providing practical and sustainable solutions to the impacts of global health crisis.
Politics, he said, should be set aside in order to provide the best for the Filipino people.
Cayetano has been distributing P10,000 in cash assistance to sectors as the House of Representatives rejected his proposal for the provision of a one-time cash assistance to poor families under the proposed Bayanihan 3 bill. The measure, passed by the lower chamber last June 1, instead allocated funds for the distribution of P2,000 emergency cash assistance to Filipinos, which will be given in two tranches.
On Friday, he gave 300 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and 50 more people P10,000 each.
‘’When I believe something is right, I will fight for it until the end, even if there are dire consequences. This 10K cash aid is right,’’ he maintained.
Cayetano, also on Friday, announced that he is "seriously considering" to run for president, "or for other postions" in the 2022 elections.
