Beware of fake DSWD Facebook accounts

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has warned the public against two fake Facebook accounts that are spreading false and misleading information about its programs and services.

In a Facebook post, the DSWD clarified that the “DSWD Registration” and “DSWD SAP NEWS UPDATE” are not official Facebook accounts of the agency.

"Mag-ingat sa Facebook pages na gaya nito. Huwag tangkilikin at i-report upang hindi kumalat ang mga maling impormasyon (Beware of Facebook pages like these. Do not patronise, and report it so as not to spread false information),” the DSWD said.

It urged the public to rely on the informational materials from its official website and social media accounts.

To be updated on its programs and services, the DSWD urged the public to simply visit its website at www.dswd.gov.ph and follow its Facebook and Twitter accounts @dswdserves.

Two weeks ago, the DSWD cautioned more than 4.3 million household-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) against falling prey on circulating fake text messages and Facebook posts that spread false information about the government’s poverty reduction program.
