Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has called on owners and operators of business establishments in the city to comply with the Safety Seal certification program of the national government.
By signing Executive Order No. 13 S. 2021, Belmonte enjoined all establishments to apply for a Safety Seal, which they can get by complying with the minimum health protocols, including the use of the city's accredited contact tracing app KyusiPass.
She issued the order to ensure the health and safety of the public against COVID-19 as more business establishments are now allowed to operate.
"In turn, we expect that this will increase customer confidence and positively affect everyone's livelihood and our economy," Belmonte said in a statement Saturday.
Through the order, the Quezon City government will adopt the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 21-01 of the national government mandating local government units to create a Safety Seal Certification Committee that will inspect and verify eligibility of registered business establishments that wish to apply for a Safety Seal.
Establishments that will be covered by the order will be the following: malls, wet markets, and other retail stores; restaurants, fast food restos, coffee shops and eateries; banks, pawnshops, money changers, and remittance centers; car washes, and laundry service centers.
Also covered are art galleries, libraries, museums, and zoos; sports centers, gyms, and spas; tutorial, testing, and review centers; and cinemas and arcades.
Belmonte said there are two ways by which establishments can secure the seal.
"First, they can apply via our no-contact online procedure. Or in the course of our regular day-to-day monitoring, the inspection team may verify the eligibility of the inspected establishment for issuance of the Safety Seal," the mayor said.
