Taguig City's vaccination reaches 100,000 mark; SM Aura awarded safety seal

The Taguig City government has vaccinated more than 100,000 individuals against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

It hit the mark Friday after reaching 99,514 first-dose vaccinees on June 2. A total of 28,074 individuals have also received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The city government recently launched its vaccination bus to reach out to more people and achieve its target of vaccinating 680,000 residents by year end.

As of June 2, Taguig has 26,510 confirmed COVID-19 cases including 25,820 recoveries and 259 deaths. It has now 431 active cases.

Meanwhile, the city government launched its Safety Seal Certification program as part of opening up the economy.

Through this, citizens can continue their livelihood, go to their workplaces, and other establishments that comply with minimum public health standards.

Mayor Lino Cayetano announced the safety seal at a ceremonial awarding Thursday. SM SM Aura and other establishments in Bonifacio High Street were the first to receive the Safety Seal Certification.

Atty. Clarence Santos, current head of the Safe City Task Force, said a total of 104 establishments have already received their Safety Seal Certifications and were labeled compliant prior to the ceremony.

"The rolling out of the safety seal here in the city of Taguig is really to instill confidence sa mga kababayan natin na hand-in-hand ang government at ang private sector, working together," said Cayetano.

An establishment that receives a safety seal from the Taguig government will also receive benefits in other forms.

The mayor said employees of these establishments will be subjected to free regular COVID-19 testing.
