PH records 7,450 new cases of COVID-19

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines grew to 1,255,337 after 7,450 new infections were recorded on Friday, June 4.

The Department of Health (DOH) said that 4.8 percent of the overall caseload or 60,794 are patients who are still being treated.

Of the active cases, 93.9 percent were experiencing mild symptoms, two percent were asymptomatic, 1.3 percent were critical, 1.6 percent were in severe condition, and 1.15 percent were experiencing moderate symptoms.

Meanwhile, the death count increased to 21,537 after the DOH confirmed another 181 patients who have succumbed to COVID-19. These include the 119 cases that were initially classified as recoveries but were later on confirmed as deaths.

The recovery tally, however, jumped by 2,382 to 1,173,006. The total number of survivors represents 93.4 percent of the country’s cumulative caseload.

“Pinapaalala po natin sa lahat ng ating mga kababayan sumunod po tayo sa minimum public health standards. Maging maingat pa rin po tayo (We remind all our citizens to adhere to the minimum public health standards. Let's still be careful),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

“Nariyan pa rin po ang ating ibang mga measures na ginagawa ng ating local at national government pero kailangan po natin ang tulong ng ating mga kababayan para tayo ay makapag break nitong chains of transmission at patuloy po sana na bumaba na ang ating mga kaso (There are still other measures being implemented by our local and national government, but we need the help of our citizens so that we can break these chains of transmission and hopefully, our cases will continue to decrease),” she added.
