Metro mayors' position on face shield policy will depend on health experts' recommendation -- MMC chair

The position of the Metro Manila mayors on the proposal to revisit the guidelines on the use of face shields will depend on the recommendation of the health experts, Metro Manila Council Chairman Edwin Olivarez said Friday.

“Kami pong mga Metro mayors, hindi po kami expert pagdating po diyan so lagi po kaming humihingi ng recommendation sa ating mga health experts (We mayors are not experts on the matter that’s why we always ask for the recommendation of the health experts),” Olivarez told DZMM in an interview.
Quoting Health Secretary Franciso Duque III, Olivarez said the country is not yet ready to remove the use of face shields because only a few have been vaccinated with two doses.
Olivarez also said that based on health experts, face shields, partnered with face masks and social distancing, can give 90 percent protection from COVID-19.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on June 2 urged the government to reevaluate the policy that requires the use of face shield.
