Former GFRIEND members start solo projects after disbandment

K-pop girl group GFRIEND disbanded after their exclusive contracts expired last May 22 and members have announced their solo projects.

Yuju will start her solo career with the release of a song for the original soundtrack (OST) of the MBN’s 10th anniversary drama “Bossam: Steal The Fate,” which stars Jung Il-woo and Kwon Yuri. Her ballad song “Comfort” will be released at 6 p.m. KST on June 5.

Eunha, on the other hand, released on June 3 the song "At the End of Time," an OST for Korean webtoon “The Stairway of Time.” OST.

Yerin started as an emcee on Lifetime Channel’s “Beauty Time Season 2” together with Jiyeon, former member T-ara, and Choa, former member of AOA.

Last May 18, Source Music, GFRIEND’s agency, made a sudden announcement about the expiration of their contracts.

“The exclusive artist contract with GFRIEND and Source Music will be concluded on May 22. After careful consideration and extensive discussion, GFRIEND and Source Music have come to an agreement to follow separate paths to continued growth. We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to GFRIEND who has allowed Source Music to accompany them on their journey,” it said.

GFRIEND members later confirmed that they were disbanding after six years in the business.

On June 3, Source Music announced the refund to those who purchased membership to GFRIEND’s official fan club Buddy.

“Refunds will be provided to Membership holders with unexpired Memberships who apply for a refund. Membership holders who wish to have the remaining period in their Memberships refunded may apply via the email sent to your Weverse Shop email address (the account used to sign up for your Membership),” it said.

But instead of cash, the refund will be given as cash credits that can be used on the Weverse Shop.

“If you request a refund, the amount corresponding to the dates remaining on your Membership will be returned to use at 110% as cash points for use on Weverse Shop. (However, memberships that began after May 1, 2021 will be refunded a set amount of 25,000 won .),” the agency said.

In addition, Source Music will also refund those who purchased for the Labyrinth album fan sign event.

“Your refunds will be transferred individually after verification of your purchase and identity information; we will try our utmost to ensure that your refund is received within two weeks after your request has been submitted,” it said.
