DFA records 102 new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday reported 102 new COVID-19 cases and 9 new recoveries among Filipinos abroad.

In a report, the DFA attributed the huge spike in an increase reported cases in one country in the Middle East.

No new fatality among overseas Filipinos was reported in the latest DFA tally.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases involving overseas Filipinos to 19,876. Of that total, 12,053 have recovered, 6,629 are undergoing treatment and 1,194 died due to coronavirus infections.

Since the outbreak began in February last year, the combined regions of the Middle East and Africa consistently topped in terms of numbers in all categories, namely the total number of confirmed cases (11,350), recoveries (6,293), undergoing treatment (4,268), and fatalities (789).

“The DFA personnel in our Foreign Service Posts remain steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and commit to tirelessly attending to the needs of our people, whenever possible,” the department said in a statement.
