A total of 300 employees of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) have already been vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The vaccination of the education frontliners was held at the CHED Auditorium on Thursday, June 3. It was made possible though the CHED’s partnership with the Quezon City government.
“The Commission commends Mayor Joy Belmonte for recognizing the critical role played by our frontline workers here in CHED, especially with the ongoing health crisis, and its effort to bring the vaccination in our Central Office to ensure a systematic vaccine roll out,” CHED Chairman Popoy De Vera said in a statement issued Thursday night, June 3.
Those vaccinees belong to A2 priority sector in the government’s vaccination program or senior citizens aged 60 years old, A3 employees with comorbidities, and A4 frontline education personnel handling transactions with students and the general public.
CHED Commissioner Aldrin A. Darilag, a registered health care professional, also expressed his gratitude to the Quezon City government "for considering the CHED frontliners in this vaccination program entitled: “Protektado sa Bakunang Sigurado”.
He served as one of the vaccinators to send a message that "through bayanihan, cooperation, and adherence to strict health protocol”, the global health crisis can be surpassed.
Sheila Jalbuena, supervising education program specialist of the Office of Programs and Standards Development, and Susan Tibigar, administrative assistant of the Administrative, Financial and Management Service (AFMS), thanked the Commission for looking after their security, safety and welfare.
"Hindi na natin kailangang lumayo at pumila nang mahaba para matamo natin yung proteksyon through this vaccinaton (We don't have to go far and line up for a long time to get protection through this vaccinaton),” said Jalbuena.
“Hindi mahirap pumila, hindi mainit, at least dito sa CHED, kampante tayo at safe (It’s not difficult to line up, it’s not hot, and at least here at CHED, we’re comfortable and safe),” Tibigar said.
The vaccination is part of the continuing celebration of Higher Education Day and the yearlong celebration of CHED's 27th foundation day.
“CHED is one with the whole nation in fighting COVID-19. Ang vaccination po, you're not doing it for yourself. You're doing it for your family, for your grandchildren and the people around you,” De Vera said.
