Taguig LGU resumes vaccination using Sinovac

The Taguig City government has resumed full operations of its vaccination program using the CoronaVac vaccine Wednesday after suspending it due to the absence of the Certificate of Analysis (COA) from its manufacturer, Sinovac Life Sciences.

In an announcement released on June 29, the city government said its “vaccination rollout will be back to its normal operations starting June 30. All those with online appointments or group bookings may proceed to the hub indicated in their e-tickets. All those scheduled for second dose are advised to proceed to the same hub where they received their first dose.”

It said those who were scheduled for vaccination on June 28 will be inoculated on July 1 while those scheduled at Medical Center Taguig will get their jab on July 2. All June 29 schedules have been moved to July 2.

The Philippines received one million CoronaVac doses Monday, bringing the total supply of Sinovac vaccines to 12 million.

Last Monday, the Taguig City Vaccination Task Force announced that the first and second dose vaccinations of CoronaVac were “cancelled until further notice.”

“The Department of Health (DOH) has informed us that the Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the delivered Sinovac doses has not yet been released. In accordance with the ethical standards of the Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) Regulation of the Food and Drug Administration, any COVID-19 vaccine should have a COA as part of the quality assurance and safety prior to its use,” the task force added.

Mayor Lino Cayetano said the affected priority groups under the order were A1 (health workers), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (persons with comorbidities), and A4 (essential workers).

“We will resume as soon as we receive the proper documents from the Department of Health for the latest shipment of vaccines, which we already have in our cold storage facility. We are working closely with DOH so we can immediately resume vaccination,” he said.

As of June 28, Taguig has vaccinated 246,153 individuals with the first dose, or 36.2 percent of the target population of 680,000. In addition, 61,146 got their second dose to bring the total administered doses to 307,299.

Among the first dose recipients, 18,593 belonged to A1, 44,777 to A2, 85,521 to A3, and 97,262 to A4.

Of the fully vaccinated individuals, 6,689 are A1, 17,984 are A2, 34,954 are A3, and 1,519 are A4.
