PCG conducts water search and rescue, maritime inter-agency training in Mindanao
Members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have conducted a series of trainings on water search and rescue, and maritime interagency exercises to enhance their skills in conducting maritime law enforcement operations in Mindanao.
At least 40 students of the PCG District Northern Mindanao have participated in water search and rescue training in preparation for their deployment in Coast Guard stations and substations in northern Mindanao on Monday, June 28.

The students also underwent series of lectures on district familiarization.
Commodore Agapito Bibat, commander of PCG District Northern Mindanao, encouraged the students to make the most out of the learning opportunities given to them in order to perform tasks towards the fulfillment of the armed service’s mandated functions.
"Education is a never-ending process. Regardless of how long you have been in the service, it is an ever- evolving process,” Bibat said in a statement on Tuesday, June 29.
Meanwhile, personnel of the PCG Special Operations Unit – Southeastern Mindanao have participated in the five-day maritime interagency training in Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte last week.

The training, organized by the Naval Forces Eastern Command, aims to strengthened ties between the maritime agencies for the “enhancement of synergy and interoperability in the conduct of maritime law enforcement operations.”
During the exercise, PCG personnel simulated search and seizure and performed "horse shoe" maneuver to ensure safety and security prior boarding the critical contact of interest.
"As we continue to face multiple battlefronts in maritime security, we capitalize on simulation and wargaming to solidify our capabilities to achieve a more integrated and seamless maritime interoperability," Commodore Allan Corpuz, commander of Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao, said in a statement.
Apart from the PCG personnel, the Philippine National Police - Maritime Group (PNP – MG), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Central 911, Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Camp Panacan Hospital, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Health Service Command, and Task Force Samal have also joined the exercises.
