Ospital ng Tondo now free of COVID-19 patients -- Mayor Isko

Ospital ng Tondo no longer has COVID-19 patients, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced Tuesday (June 29).

Domagoso said all COVID-19 patients from Ospital ng Tondo have been transferred to the city’s field hospital in Rizal Park.

“Today, we can honestly say that OsTon (Ospital ng Tondo) is COVID-19 patient-free,” the mayor said in his regular mayoral address.

The mayor said he is “happy” for Tondo residents and the hospital and “hopes” that the city’s district hospitals would also be free of patients.

With Ospital ng Tondo being free of COVID-19 patients, Domagoso said the field hospital is now serving its purpose to allow other hospitals to tend to persons with other diseases.

The mayor added that non-COVID patients in need of care can now go to Ospital ng Tondo without fear of getting infected.

“Marami sa kababayan natin hindi nabibigyan ng ample healthcare dala ng presensya ng COVID-19 (Many of our citizens are not being given ample healthcare because of COVID-19),” he said.

Domagoso, meanwhile, said the city’s field hospital has a 4 percent occupancy rate as of June 29 with 14 patients. The field hospital began operations on June 25.

The city’s total number of active cases is at 1,066 as of Tuesday, with 100 new cases recorded.
