Grand Seiko just released two new GMT watches

A mechanical marvel inspired by nature

Founded in 1960 and later on becoming an independent brand in 2017, Grand Seiko prides itself with their incredible attention to detail and inspiration from nature. Its brand philosophy is to celebrate the Japanese spirituality of time that is deeply inspired by nature and her seasons, brought to life by Takumi, the dedicated seekers of mastery.

From dials like the Snowflake, White Birch, down to their Four-Season collection, it’s clear where the influences stem from. Grand Seiko’s initial launch featured four watches, each of them representing one of Japan’s 24 “Sekki” or micro-seasons.

Recently, the watch house released two new GMT watches with astounding dials. First, Shōsho, which exhibits the calm ripples of ponds throughout Japan. Second, Shunbun, which expresses the celebration of the vernal equinox that evokes the spirit of the fleeting sakura season.

“I like to think that Kintaro would be proud of what we have achieved in recent times and of our ambitious program for 2021, which we have developed in line with his vision and spirit,” says Shinji Hattori, chairman and CEO of Seiko Holdings Corp., looking back to the beginning of 2021. “I am confident that the collections we are going to show you will live up to Kintaro’s ideals, and that the coming year will mark the start of an exciting new era for both Grand Seiko and Seiko.”

And rightfully so, with its newly released pieces, Grand Seiko is definitely on a league of its own.
