The Department of Health (DOH) still observed a downward trend in the number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases nationwide.
The COVID-19 cases in the national level continue to “decline slowly,” said DOH Epidemiology Bureau Dr. Alethea De Guzman on Wednesday, June 30.
“Nakita natin na tayo ay unti-unting bumababa (We have seen that the cases are gradually declining). Over the last week, we had an average of 5,749 reported cases per day. This was only slightly lower than the 5,789 that we reported the previous week,” she said in an online forum.
In Luzon, the DOH observed a decrease in cases except in Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental & Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan).
“Lahat ng rehiyon ay pababa na liban lamang sa 4-B... Pagkatapos bumaba ay medyo tumaas ang dami ng mga narereport na kaso nitong nakaraang linggo (All regions are on a downward trend except for 4-B ... After the decline, the number of reported cases increased slightly this past week),” said De Guzman.
The cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) continue to decline “just shy by 300 to 400 of pre-surge level,” said De Guzman.
De Guzman noted that the average cases per day on June 23 to 29 was at 697 as compared to the 683 cases per day during the period of June 16 to 22.
“Kung titingnan natin, ang ating cases per day sa NCR ay parating na sa pre-surge levels natin which is at around 384 average cases per day (If we look at it, our cases per day in NCR are already nearing the pre-surge levels which is at around 384 average cases per day),” she said.
“Case trend in NCR is exhibiting a slow decline after a plateau,” she added.
In Visayas, De Guzman said that Central Visayas is “now plateauing after showing a sharp decline.” However, Eastern Visayas is “still on the rise.”
Western Visayas is showing a continuous decrease in infections, said De Guzman.
In Mindanao, Davao region is still showing an increase in cases, while “all other regions are exhibiting downward trend in cases,” she said.
